Description

The song"Red and Gold", written by Ralph McTell, tells the story of the Battle of Cropredy Bridge (1644) during the English Civil War. The song has particular significance to Fairport fans because Cropredy is the home of the band's annual Cropredy Festival. The "red and gold" refers to both royal colours and the wheat fields and bloodshed associated with the battle
